 Sound of Silence
Smiles that light up the eyes are no more
Innocence yoked, and the tender hearts stilled;
When time to celebrate the birth of our savior.
Let’s count, she says’
one, two, three four, five
Six and seven no more.
Snatched from the prime of innocence
Bang!! Bang!!
Goes the gun at Elementary Sandy…
Six and seven
Xylophone like lie in series of musical notes silenced for ever
Soto, Dawn and other  teacher, who sacrificed everything equitable,
lost their life for  Six and Sevens.
Vain imaginings of Adam, muddled, points his cold nozzle,
At her.
Eager to protect the children in her care,
She stands in the arms way
never to see the daylight again
illumined by the eternal Glory of Heaven.
by: Shashi Moore

This poem is my way of extending my love, prayers and a word of comfort to the people of Newtown and learning community of Elementary Sandy Hook, on loss of their loved ones. I am mindful of the fact that my words are inadequate and the loss of the loved ones so tender is irreplaceable, yet I want to reach out to them and be with them in spirit.

About Shashi Moore

Having covered half a century of my time on this Earth; enthusiastically creating an impression on my students has given me the much needed excuse to continue to live another few decades, if possible. An educationist by choice and a mother by grace of God.
